i-Squared Engages in Consulting Project With RAND
October 24, 2007
i-Squared recently completed a consulting relationship with the RAND Corporation, a nationally known nonprofit research organization.
In an effort to streamline its content production and delivery – and, ultimately, better serve its clients – RAND engaged i-Squared to analyze its content creation processes and tools, and recommend an optimal information management approach for its external web presence. Using its Wise Content™ methodology, including a series of interviews with RAND staff, i-Squared identified numerous opportunities to improve the creation and guidance of RAND’s web content. i-Squared suggested enhancements that addressed content production and reusability, consistent branding, optimal collaboration opportunities, compatibility of information systems, and efficiencies in content delivery and publication.
RAND is a nonprofit research organization which provides objective analysis and effects solutions that address challenges facing the public and private sectors around the world. Headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., RAND has other domestic offices in Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Pa., Jackson, Miss., and New Orleans, La., as well as foreign offices in the United Kingdom and Qatar. With such a broad global mission and reach, RAND’s internal and external web presences are key components of its content delivery and communications strategies.
So how did RAND recognize the benefit of a qualified third-party validation for its content management strategy? “i-Squared has developed a singular methodology to do this unique work,” says Neal Sofge, acting RAND Web Technology Program Manager. “Not only are they a Pittsburgh-based company – a huge plus for working with the Pittsburgh-based RAND Web Communications Group – but we also found they were one of the only outfits working in this business space nationwide.”
Upon completion of the project, i-Squared delivered a final findings report and presentation to RAND, giving key organizational stakeholders an objective and comprehensive analysis of the current processes with recommendations for moving forward. Proposals included increased usage of web content management (WCM) technologies, comprehensive content management frameworks, and ongoing governance strategies.
