Enterprise Content Management
Alcoa
Our team transformed the accounting department at this Pittsburgh-based multinational firm into a model of efficient financial management by converting financial procedures, standards, key control objectives, and tax accounting information into an Enterprise Content Management system. i-Squared developed a proficient, thorough strategy for tracking, updating, and validating the client’s financial accounting documentation, reconfigured the information to take advantage of the new medium, created the intricate blueprints hyperlinking the information across documents and across modules, selected the appropriate tool set, developed rigorous test plans for the system, and compiled a long-range schedule and strategy for revising the online information quarterly.
Allegheny Technologies
Allegheny Technologies engaged i-Squared to analyze its information needs for the deployment of its Enterprise Content Management system, ATI Today, using portal software developed by Plumtree as the foundation. Based on our analysis, i-Squared composed a strategy for capturing and distributing corporate knowledge with the use of the Enterprise Content Management system.
i-Squared identified AT’s global communities and developed the information taxonomy for those communities, in addition to defining a rollout strategy for training and support of the site’s users. Through reviewing AT’s intranets, interviewing key personnel, and utilizing its own methodology, i-Squared designed the corporate communities for ATI Today, architected the knowledge, and wrote the information AT used to populate those communities.
IBM
i-Squared subcontracted to IBM for an Enterprise Content Management project that was part of a large IBM/UPMC development and technology agreement. i-Squared used its Wise Content Clearinghouse methodology to assist in the development of a portal for training and knowledge transfer during the transition phase of the project. i-Squared facilitated workshops with IBM’s and UPMC’s teams to determine what content is needed for the portal and how best to organize and deliver it. IBM used its WebSphere product to build the portal.
Maryland Health Care Commission
i-Squared, in partnership with the Delmarva Foundation, redesigned an online guide to hospital care for the Maryland Health Care Commission. The original website reported on hospital performance in the state of Maryland, but survey results found that users struggled to find and understand the vast technical information on the website. i-Squared led a discovery workshop among stakeholders, devised a requirements document that provided a framework for the website redesign, and redeveloped portions of website content.
The resulting Enterprise Content Management system delivered user-focused content in distinct areas for three different audiences: hospital leaders, medical care providers, and patients and families. The website design provided clear navigation, a search tool, and a flexible structure to allow the portal to grow. i-Squared also wrote a Help section to assist new users in finding and understanding the information in the portal.
Senior Flexonics/QSi
i-Squared designed and implemented an Enterprise Content Management system to house manufacturing and quality assurance procedures for the QSi division of Senior Flexonics, an automotive parts manufacturer. The Enterprise Content Management system was based on existing shop floor procedures and manufacturing practices, and encompassed audience requirements, technology conditions, and management objectives.
i-Squared rewrote existing and composed new standard operating procedures to conform to an audience-friendly format, and designed and built the HTML interface. i-Squared also developed a database for capturing shop floor data, and integrated it into the Enterprise Content Management system. The result was an easy-to-use shop floor tool that provided QSi with a comprehensive manufacturing resource.
UPMC Health Systems Data Center
i-Squared specialists designed and built an Enterprise Content Management solution to help the Data Center significantly improve operational performance through improved information flow. i-Squared performed an extensive analysis that yielded detailed recommendations and plans for the creation of the intranet to house critical procedures and reference information that Data Center operators routinely require to perform their jobs. i-Squared provided detailed strategies and timelines for revising and creating a comprehensive infrastructure of information, as well as process blueprints for intranet distribution. i-Squared also developed a phased strategy for developing and implementing the site, complete with prototypes. An i-Squared team managed and performed the development and implementation of the site, and Data Center personnel participated as team members on the initiative, to ultimately manage the site after it was rolled out and fully operational.
